Awards!

Laura Martone has nominated us for a Kreativ Blogger award! And already I'm failing miserably because I don't know how to copy the image for the Kreativ Blogger logo into my post. Yes, I write a blog despite being a techno-rube! I have overcome much.

And now, my seven internet appointed tasks (yes, think of Hercules. And me. In the same way. Heroic tasks, similar phsycal build...)

1. Thank the person who nominated you for this award. (Not too hard. Thanks again, Laura)

2. Copy the logo and place it on your blog. (Okay, yes, I've failed miserably at this one)

3. Link to the person who nominated you for this award. (Shall now attempt... bingo! Yes, html code is tough for us rubes)

4. Name 7 things about yourself that people might find interesting. (I own a bookstore. I love shoes and yet retain %100 of my manliness. Unlike Laura, I have broken and torn all sorts of bodily things, and each story is less interesting than the last. I used to be a teacher. I also used to work a nightshift at Wal-Mart... and survived - this is to be commended. My kids are better looking than I - this is obvious. My kids are smarter than I - this is also obvious.)

5. Nominate 7 Kreativ Bloggers. (Okay...)

6. Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate.

7. Leave a comment on each of the blogs letting them know they have been nominated. (I'll see what I can do... I think it may kill me, though. This award is cool, but it's also sort of the mother of all chain letters. Those poor nominees...)

Hey Ink, you used to be a night manager at Walmart? Wow. That's cool. Bet you got some stories, eh? Pricing gun misfires and such. Hey, you know those giant pyramids of canned goods you sometime see at grocery stores and Walmart? You ever get tempted--like, at 2AM in the morning--to run and dive into one of those? I've done that. Not at Walmart. I worked at a toy store back in my misspent youth and after the store closed we grunts had to straighten up while the manager cooked the books in the back office. My favorite way to kill time was to run down an aisle full tilt and dive into a giant pyramidal display of Hot Wheels or Transformers. Really cool, but then I had to clean it up. Bummer.

Hey, is there an echo in here?

Well, I wasn't a manager, just a peon there when I was younger. Lots of grand memories. Someone stole my copy of Catch-22 when I was ten pages from the end. I even wrote and published a Wal-mart story once... Actually, I could probably post it, too, since the rights are surely back in my hands after all these years. Hmmm... Defamation of Wal-Mart is always a worthy cause. What say you?

Oops, sorry, Ink. I gave you the award with the best of intentions... but now I realize how chain-letter-like it really was. Didn't mean to make you crazy with all the links and comments and logos and such. Can you ever forgive me?

Congratulations. I wouldn't sweat it about the logo. You know it is rather frilly and might negate your claim to retaining %100 of your manliness.

jb,

You might be right there. And I need all that manliness to survive the tiara my daughter sometimes makes me wear around the house.

Laura,

No, it's cool! It's sort of like grassroots blog marketing. It's sort of like a chain of people finding cool stuff to read. A chain letter is usually empty of content - it's just this thing you have to do for the sake of doing it. Superstition, paranoia... But the award thing is kinda cool, because it's all content. It's a "hey, if you like this, you might also like this..." Sort of a recommendation list going from blogger to blogger. Most of whom, probably, can download the logo. I blush in shame...

Hey! My site was nominated! Hey!

Cool, Bryan, thank you for the nomination! That was so sweet of you.

Um, so I don't have a speech prepared, but I think I can wing it. I'd like to thank all the people that led up to this nomination, mainly Bryan. He is the main reason for this nomination, and I really couldn't have done it without him. Thanks buddy, for all that you do, you're the best!

So on behalf of all the people who contributed to this nomination, like Bryan, I accept.

(It really was sweet - thank you!)
