The mists come in...



My new novel-in-progress revolves around fog, so I've been looking at some of my old photos for inspiration. Here's one from my archives. I think the mood is right for the story...

Do you listen to music for inspiration as well? I find Rachmaninov's "Isle of the Dead" symphony fitting for the mood your photo is evoking.

I used to listen to music a lot while writing, but not so much anymore. Maybe because I write when my family is asleep...

Go back and read The Fog on the Barrow Downs. I re-read that chapter every time I write a fog scene.

Not many things scare me but fog seriously creeps me out. It just looks so sinister...

Yes, I do believe that should fit the mood nicely.

Oh, and you don't have to write out novel-in-progress for us. Just go with nip; we'll know what you mean. (Or if it ends up as a novella, it can be your little nip.)
