No I do not remember that at all and I have read all of Tolkien's works more than once.

I will have to go back and look at this passage again. I don't recall the line breaks off the top of my head but it sounds interesting. I have used a similar technique to jump back and forth between POVs in nearby scenes but never within a single scene. My guess is that if anyone could make it work it would be JRR, but I will have to go back and look again.Matthew MacNishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03264738483763244969noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5423907132654588993.post-34090765461801139952009-06-11T20:49:53.516-04:002009-06-11T20:49:53.516-04:00It's interesting. It's really struck me, in this rereading, how he does, and how often he likes to tie elements together. You broach it early, and then come back to it, and back to it again.Bryan Russellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09555071335245492790noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5423907132654588993.post-7738421633294752852009-06-11T20:42:24.677-04:002009-06-11T20:42:24.677-04:00I had forgotten the scarf, too.
Hurray for cheeky...I had forgotten the scarf, too.

Hurray for cheeky foreshadowing! I wonder if I can get away with it...Deb Salisbury, Magic Seeker and Mantua-Makerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01513482264195697450noreply@blogger.com
